For the past week now I have been really busy with real life. I have been going so much these past few days that I really haven't had the need to check out any information on the best diet pills that are available on the market. I have my own diet plan. I don't have time to eat. LOL No, seriously I have so much to do these days that eating has been the last thing on my mind. And it's going to get worse before it gets better. Hopefully in a few weeks, my time will be my own once again and maybe, I'll even find the time to eat every once in a while.

Spring cleaning

Well I have most of my spring cleaning done. I only have a couple of rooms in the house left to do and then I have to move on to our porch. I have been putting off this particular space as it really is a mess and it's going to take me quite awhile to get it all done. There are so many shoes and boots out there that I'm having a hard time telling the difference between my Mephisto shoes and the regular ones. Oh well, when I do finally talk myself into going into this room and clear it all out, some of this footwear will have to go. I only have two feet, so I really don't need twenty pairs of shoes now do I?

Yard work

Yesterday we finally had a pretty decent day weather wise. So after the kids got home from school and did their homework, I took them outside for a little fun and relaxation. While they were playing, I buckled down and did a massive amount of yard work. If I keep up the pace I did yesterday, I really won't need to invest in any of the best fat burners this summer. I'll just let nature take it's course. Although I did quite a bit of work yesterday, I still have a lot left to do so I'm thinking that's probably something I'm going to do today as well.

More jewelry

Well yesterday I did something that I haven't done in a very long time. I created some more handcrafted jewelry. Now with my craft room set up, it is so much easier and less time consuming to do one of my favorite hobbies. Although I only created one necklace with a matching pair of earrings, it did give me the motivation to get back into it. So later on today I'm going back in my room to create more. I have decided to concentrate on the making of the jewelry for now and worry about ways to sell it later.

Well, I think life has finally slowed down for a little while so it's time that I start up my crafting business once again. It is only a very small business and I am the only employee. LOL So I really don't need any industrial equipment supplies or anything like that. I have everything I need to start to build up my crafting inventory once again. All I needed was the motivation and the time. And now I think I have both of those. So wish me luck and once I have a bit of inventory created, I'll be sure to pop back in here and post all my creations.

Family portrait

Although our entire family does not live in our home any longer, my husband has decided that it's time for us to finally get a family portrait taken. We have been together for 15 years now and have never had a portrait taken. So, I think it's about time don't you? We are planning on doing this sometime in May. Not only will I be getting tons of copies made to give to family and friends, but I also plan on purchasing a digital frame to display these pictures in my home. The kids are quite excited about this event and if I can talk them into behaving and not making a lot of silly faces, I really do think that this event will be a great one.

Camping

Just a little over a month and our official camping season will have started. The kids are looking forward to this event and have been talking about getting ready for camping for quite some time now. But now they have a new concern, they are wondering what they are going to do with their brand new Hamster when they go camping. I told them he will be fine for the little bit of time that we are away. Now if we went to the Outer Banks through any Outer Banks rentals we would have to look for a Hamster sitter. But for the short amount of time we are away, I think the little guy would be just fine.

Craft Room

Well my home office is no more. Yesterday I discovered that I have to have my computer hooked up to the modem and router for any of our computers to work so I've moved my computer back out to the kitchen table. So now the little room that I was using for my home office is now my craft room. Now I definitely have the space to work on my jewelry, sewing and my latest obsession... making rubber stamps. I'm glad that I now have room for all these activities, but am seriously annoyed that I now have to work out in the kitchen once again.

Earlier today I was posting about the fact that I don't have a whole lot of time these days to myself. I also mentioned that I had today off and that it would be my only day this week to myself as I have been working quite a bit lately and now the kids are on Easter break.

Well, this is where the funny part comes in. While I was posting about all this, I got a phone call and was called into work yet again. So the day was busted and the one day that I was looking forward to to be able to call my own was completely lost. Oh well, next week is coming.

Hey folks!

What have you all been up to lately? As you can tell from my lack of posts, I haven't been posting very much as real life has gotten a bit busy these days. I have decided that I probably am going to give up this blog as I really don't have the time to devote to it that I used to have. I have been working a lot more lately at my outside jobs and haven't even been able to find the time to check out Orlando vacations to take with my family this coming summer. There are so many things that I need to get done that I just don't have the time for that I have to start giving up some activities. And it looks like running and maintaining this particular blog just may be one of them.

But, as always, I'll let you know when I make a decision on this matter.

He's turning 70

This year is a pretty special year for my father in law. This year he will be turning 70. The family has gotten together and we have planned a surprise birthday party. He has no idea that we are doing this. My husband and I have enrolled him in the wine of the month club and his two sisters pooled their money together to pay for a small trip for him and his new wife. So I think he will be pretty pleased with his birthday surprises this year. Now all I need to do is to keep the kids from spilling the beans and then it will be a great birthday all the way around.

It really has been a couple of nice days that we have been experiencing. Because it's been so nice, I have seen a lot more people out walking. I guess they spend more time walking this time of year than taking diet pills. I do realize that we are probably still in for one major snowstorm, but I think the worst of the winter is behind us. This weekend my husband and I are taking the kids out to buy them each a new bike. And when the bike season is in full bloom, that is a sure sign that spring is as well.

Mid-life crisis

I think my husband is now going through his mid-life crisis. In February he turned 42 and has been a royal bear ever since. Lately he has been having serious mood swings and has been going on about his hair loss and talking about getting hair loss treatments. Up until February, he really didn't mention his looks all that much, but since he turned one year older, he now seems fixated on his looks. This too will pass (I hope). We all get older and I guess he is just going to have to figure this out for himself.

Spring has finally arrived

Finally, spring is here (I think). For the past week the temperatures have been pretty decent and the weatherman is calling for pretty warm temperatures for the rest of the week. Now, we are supposed to get a little bit of snow tonight, mind you, but....it's not predicted to stay. All winter long I have been wearing two coats (need to keep warm), but last weekend I put one of the coats away. I refuse to dig it out again, so this warm temperature had better stick with us.

Sick again

I seriously can't wait until this winter is over. Not only do we have tons of snow and ice that we have to deal with on a daily basis, but the cold and flue season seems to be sticking around quite a bit as well. My husband is home sick with the flue once again. If he keeps this up, he really will end up losing the weight he wants to and he won't even have to take any Ephedrasil hardcore to do it. Because he's been sick for a few day, he hasn't been able to eat much of anything. Hopefully soon he will start to feel better but better still would be if he doesn't end up passing it on to the kids and me.

Facing life

Although my oldest son doesn't require the services of a Mesothelioma lawyer yet (I don't think), he has finally started to get his life on track. A couple of years ago he got himself in trouble with the law and has been running ever since. Well, he has finally decided to stop running and face his problems head on. Although I realize that this process is not going to be an easy one for him, I am extremely pleased and proud that he has made this decision. There is really not much I can do for him at this point. But I will be waiting on the sidelines to give him the support that I'm sure he will need.

Winter blues

Every year around this time I get my winter blues. The Christmas season is firmly behind us and with nothing to look forward to but a lot of snow and ice, the next few months don't look real promising. This is why I think I need to go on some type of vacation. If I could, I would probably head out to Argentina. I have been seeing a lot of commercials for Argentina travel and this destination looks like a place where I could have a lot of fun and relaxation. I think a vacation like this would get me out of my winter blues now don't you??

Quiet day today

Well since I have no real plans on doing anything today, I have decided to try to go through all my crafting magazines. I have a lot of them, but some of them I've never even peeked at. A friend of mine gave me a whole shopping bag full of them about six months ago and I haven't even looked in the bag. I'm sure there are magazines in there that I will have no use for so I'm going to set these aside and then take them down to our local library. So...if your looking for me, you know where I will be. LOL

Disappointing news

Well my daughter came home from school the other day and informed me that she dropped out of the cross stitching class. *sigh* Honestly some days I think I need to take a paternity test just to make sure she belongs to me. LOL Just kidding. I remember her birth well. It's just that I had such high hopes that she would start to do this craft, enjoy it and it would be something her and I could do together. Oh well, I have come to the realization that this kid isn't going to be like me when it comes to crafts. That's OK. It just means there will be more supplies for me now doesn't it?!

Playing around

Apparently my husband and some of his co-workers were a little bored yesterday. They started playing around with their industrial weight scale. For the longest time now my husband has been telling me that his weight was around 200 lbs. Boy was he in for a shock when he stepped on those scales yesterday. His actual weight is closer to 230 than 200. So now he's all in a panic to find the diet pills that work and to lose this excessive weight. Other than a little weight gain, he is completely healthy so I told him not to be so foolish and not worry about it. But, you know how vain men can get now don't you??

Six more weeks of winter

Man, I truly do detest the winter season. I seriously hate the snow, cold and winds. And when you look outside and all you see is ice and bare trees, it gets a little depressing. Thankfully we have gotten through most of the winter season and spring is right around the corner. Then I will get to look out my window and see all the Flowering trees. Now all I have to do is get through the next six weeks. It's not going to be easy, but with the thoughts of spring just around the corner, I'm pretty sure I can last this long.

Cross stitching class

My daughter is involved with a cross stitching class at her school this year. She has been doing this for about three weeks now and is having a serious blast. At home when I tried to teach her, we didn't get anywhere. She has no patience and when she has no patience, I have no patience to teach her. So we usually end up getting into a quarrel with nothing accomplished. That's why I was quite surprised that she even wanted to do this. But so far so good. So I guess her teacher is a better teacher than I am in the world of crafts.

Need to make a purchase

Last night my daughter's TV died. Since this particular TV was over 16 years old I wasn't really surprised when she informed me that it didn't work anymore. This particular TV had been used as a living room TV, then my husband and I had it in our bedroom, then my oldest son used it for awhile and then it became my daughter's TV. Well now it's no one's TV and we need to check out some tv deals. Although she stated that she really doesn't need a new one right now, I'm pretty sure that after a few days of no TV she wouldn't be a very happy girl. So here's another expense that we really weren't counting on. Oh well, gotta keep the kids happy, now don't we??

Cross-stitching classes

My 10 year old daughter is going to take a cross-stitching class. Starting tomorrow her school is offering to teach any grade 5 student who is interested in learning how to cross stitch how to cross stitch. Well since she has watched me doing this craft myself, she was extremely interested in joining this club. She needs a small kit to start out with and then the children who are still interested will then go on to learn the advanced skills. I'm so happy that she has decided to do this and when she starts to get good, I plan on passing down some of the harder kits that I have at home to her. This is something that her and I can do together. She's quite excited about this new learning experience as am I.

New Year's Eve

I honestly have a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that it is now the last day of 2008. At 12:00 am tonight we will all be looking at our replica watches and ringing in the new year. Our house this new years eve will once again be pretty quiet. With my husband being on call, there isn't much we can do. So we are planning on having a buffet style Chinese meal and then just kick back for the night. The kids are planning on staying up until midnight, but as in previous years I'm pretty sure this isn't going to happen.

So..I would like to wish you all a happy 2009. Hopefully this new year will be everything you hope it will be and so much more!

We all had a super Christmas here at our house. The kids did really well and were very pleased with all the toys that they got. I got a few presents myself. But I would have to say that my two favorite ones were my touch table lamp for my home office and my brand new diamond engagement ring. Yes, you read that right, my husband gave me a brand new engagement ring. Although it still needs to be sized, I have been wearing it and will continue to do so until I get it sized.

Gift cards

My two youngest children have already done pretty good this year. So far they have both received about $45.00 in Christmas gift cards from a couple of their relatives. This pleased my youngest son very much. Having $45.00 to spend on whatever he wants means that he will be able to purchase the playstation 3 game that he has been wanting. Because this game was over $40.00 my husband and I were putting off purchasing it. But now that my son has his own money, he has decided that he will purchase the game himself. You just gotta love Christmas gift cards now don't ya?!

Great Christmas present

My daughter is in love with animals. Even though she is only in grade 5, all she talks about is becoming a veterinarian when she gets older. And I have no doubt in my mind that she will accomplish this. One animal that she is particularly fond of is horses. She has ridden one a couple of times and all she talks about is either getting one or taking riding lessons. So since we have no place to put a horse, we are thinking about getting her some riding lessons for Christmas.

The only major obstacle in this plan is the cost associated with it. Not only do we have to pay for the lessons, but we would also have to invest in some type of equestrian riding apparel as well. So when we figure out the entire cost of this gift, we will then decide if we will be able to swing it. I really hope that we can as this would make her very very happy.

New Year's resolutions

With 2008 almost behind us and 2009 staring us right in the face, do you ever make any new year's resolutions? Normally I don't as in the past I have found that even if I make them, I don't normally follow through with them. Well if you do, what kind of new year's resolutions do you make? Do you vow to check out the best weight loss pills and lose those extra few pounds, do you plan on finding more peace and happiness in your life, or do you strive to become fitter? Even though I don't normally make any resolutions, I thought maybe this year I would and maybe, just maybe this year I may be able to follow through with them.

I can't believe how long it's been since I've been in here to post. I guess I've gotten a little busy lately. Well I'll give you all a short run down of what I've been up to. I've been busy getting ready for Christmas. I've been shopping, wrapping, and cooking (oh, oh let's haul out the fat burner). I also returned back to work so have less time to spend on the Internet. And with taking care of the house and kids there just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day. But with the holiday season fast approaching and soon behind us, I'm hoping that I'll find more time to pop in here more often.

So if you've missed me, now you know where I've been. Haven't gone away, just haven't been able to stop by.

My youngest son is quite generous with his gift giving. And yes, that even means his illnesses. Last week he got sick. I ended up taking him to the doctor and was informed that he has a chest infection as well as the croup. Well being the nice little boy that he is, he passed on his sickness to me and his sister. His sister is much better now and has returned to school. Me, not so much. I now have the runny nose, watery eyes and cough. Although I really do love my son dearly, this time I really wish he wasn't so generous.

Riding lessons

We have decided to enroll our daughter into horseback riding. She has been asking for this for a couple of years now and we have just decided that she is probably old enough to get involved with this activity. She is so excited to be able to ride with the english saddles and dress up in all the riding gear. She really loves horses and I know she will do very well in her lessons. I only wish that the lessons weren't so expensive. Maybe then we could afford to put our son in it as well.

Scare in our neighborhood

I've never really thought about looking into different security systems for our home before, but after an incident that happened last week, I am starting to re-think this. Last week a home was broken into in our neighborhood in the broad daylight. Around 2pm in the afternoon two teenagers broke into a home and stole a flat screen TV. They then proceeded to walk up the screen with this TV. Of course they got caught and have been held in the juvenile detention center. But with something like this going on around our neighborhood, I really have to wonder if we shouldn't invest in some type of home security system.

Wedding pictures

Last Saturday my father in law got married. They employed the services of a professional photographer. After the photographers were finished taking all the pictures I asked them for a copy of the disk. There were only some pictures that I wanted and it would be cheaper for me to get the disk then to pay for them to make copies. When I uploaded the cd into my computer I wasn't able to print any pictures off. Since I don't have any clue as to what is going on, I don't even know if there is something wrong with the KVM or what the problem is. So now I'm thinking I'm going to need to take the disc into the photographer's shop and have the pictures printed off anyway. So much for trying to save money.

Beads store

So exciting!! In our little small hometown we have a brand new store coming in and I have to tell you all that I'm extra super excited. The new store that is coming to town will be a bead store and jewelry supply store. The reason why I am super excited about this is because the only store that I can buy my supplies at is in town and I don't drive in town. So when I need supplies I either need to ask my husband to pick them up or a friend of mine to pick them up. Now with this new store in our town, I can pick up my own supplies. It's supposed to be open on September 5th and let me tell you, I just can't wait.

Another year of violin

Well it's official. My daughter is once again enrolled in the violin program at her school for another year. Although she is only in grade 5 right now, I really hope she continues to stick to it throughout the years. Not only will she have learned to play a very valuable instrument, but if she continues to play straight through grade 12 she also has the opportunity to go on Disney vacations as well. This would be an all expenses paid adventure. So hopefully this will be enough motivation for her to continue. But if she decides not to, there is absolutely no pressure from us. It's completely up to her.

Very disturbing news

While I was listening to the news this morning I heard a report that really did scare me. Apparently our economy is going to get a lot worse before he will start to get better again. This disturbed me because a lot of people right now are having a hard time as it is and if things get worse I honestly don't know how they are going to make it. Most people have made a lot of cut back already like purchasing cheap auto insurance, buying generic foods and cutting back on gas consumption. I really don't know how much more they will be able to cut back before they finally feel the pinch. I feel really bad for them and thank my lucky stars that were not in that bad of shape right now. But, you never know what the future may hold.

Don't you just hate that when you first start a new job they give you a full run down on your job descriptions and then after your employed for a while they try to change it. This has happened to me in the past and is currently happening to my husband. He is employed as a mechanic so all his duties require him to fix things. Well now the company is trying to change things (to save money) and wants him to become the delivery driver as well. Well he is fighting this every step of the way and if they don't back off, they may in fact loose themselves a very good mechanic.

I went to visit a friend of mine today. This girl and I used to work together and used to have so much fun working. She was one of the reasons why I went back to work. But a couple of weeks ago she quit her job and now we don't work together any longer. I do miss her at work and all the fun we used to have. We had even made arrangements to take a trip to vegas together next summer. So unless she gets a job again real soon I think our visit will be put on hold. But it was great to see her again and I have told her that now that I know where she lives I will be stopping by more often.

Decision time

In September I returned to my former place of employment and I have to tell you all that I absolutely hate it! When I was employed there before I was a waitress and absolutely loved it, but this time around I am working in the kitchen. But I despise my job. So I was talking to my husband about leaving there once again. I only make about $100 a week, so giving up the paycheck isn't a great big deal. So we have talked about getting some budget software to see if we can swing it without my paycheck. If I could find something that would pay me the $100 every week, I would leave there in a heartbeat. So we will discuss this a little further and hopefully I'll be able to come up with some sort of workable solution.

I'm not sure what's going on

Well it's been over a year since my oldest son moved out. Normally he will contact me once a month to let me know what he's been up to and to find out all the gossip that has been taking place around here as well. Well I haven't heard from him yet this month and am starting to get a little scared. Without knowing what he's been up to I've had some pretty scary thoughts running through my head. I've been wondering if he has somehow gotten involved with drugs and is now in a drug treatment center so he is unable to get in touch, if he's gotten hurt or if he's gotten sick. Who knows?? I guess he could be in a worse place than a drug treatment center, but I am still terrified as to what he may be up to. I've tried to contact him myself, but he hasn't replied back. All I can do is sit here and wait for any news.

I never got lost!

I have to say that I am probably the world's worst driver as far as reaching my destination without getting lost. A trip that would take any normal person a half hour to arrive, will normally take me at least an hour. This is because I normally get lost and have to take a few detours to find my way back on track.

Well I'm happy to report that I went to visit a friend of mine today at her house and did not get lost! I think this is probably the first time that I followed the directions correctly and arrived where I was suppose to the first time around. And I was even able to leave her home and arrive at my own without getting lost as well. All in all it was a great day for a visit!

Sleeping by myself

My husband won't sleep in the same room as me! Now I'll tell you why. I have a fan running constantly and he finds the room to cold. Even during the winter months when it's bitterly cold outside I have my fan running. I have even hooked up my electric blanket to make the bed warmer. But no dice, he still won't sleep in there. And since we've been together for almost 15 years, I can't see any of this changing. Normally he sleeps on the couch with the TV going and I sleep in the bedroom that I like to call an ice box.

On Sunday night one of the owner's gave me a very nice present. The reason for the gift is because she is leaving the business and wanted to give me this as her way of saying thank you for all my loyalty and work over the past seven years. The gift she gave me is gorgeous. It kind of looks like a magnetic bracelet. It has the same size and shape as one. But it has diamonds and emeralds in it as well. Whether I wear this gift or not, I will always treasure the thought from her. She could have said good bye and left it at that.

Why is it that when a person is enjoying a really good meal they feel the need to over stuff themselves to the point of considering buying some diet pills? I did this last night. I cooked a really good supper with potatoes, meat, gravy and vegetables and then proceeded to sit and eat to plates full of food. Lets just put it this way, at the end of the meal I could barely move. Then of course I had to berate myself the entire night for eating so much at one sitting. Why do we do this to ourselves? Don't we ever learn? Apparently I don't. lol I'm feeling much better today and won't make that same mistake two days in a row.

I have homework

Shoot! I almost forgot about a major project that my son has due the first of next week. Not only does he have to do a complete write up on "Grizzly Bears", but he also has to have pictures and stuff to put on Bristol board as well. So today we have been rushing through trying to get the write up done for the report. Tomorrow after school we will do the Bristol board part of it so he can turn it in on Tuesday. This project was assigned weeks ago but I completely forgot about it. I really have to start paying better attention to the kids and what needs to be done for their school.

Our TVs are fine

The other night my husband and I were watching a report on TV about the new legislation regarding HDTVs that are coming into effect early next year. We were quite pleased to discover that all the TVs we have in our home won't be affected. We won't have to worry about replacing any TVs or even needing to purchase one of those boxes. That was really good news to our ears. Right now we have four TVs in the house and if we had to replace them all or buy boxes for them all, we would seriously be put in the poor house.

By the sounds of things the only TVs that will be affected are the ones with rabbit ears and right now we don't have any. So I guess we can breathe a sigh of relief. How about you guys? Will you be affected?

Better late than never

This past weekend was our long Thanksgiving weekend here in Canada. I really hope you all enjoyed your holiday and hope you didn't stuff yourself with too much Turkey. Here at our house we had our big dinner yesterday. I cooked a chicken (we are not a turkey loving family), potatoes, corn, gravy and stuffing. We all stuffed our faces and felt very full afterwords. It was a nice relaxing day as the kids weren't in school and both my husband and I had the day off work.

So here's to a happy if not late Thanksgiving holiday.

Purchasing craft supplies

Well my crafting hobby has just gotten a little expensive. I have decided to try my hand at tole painting and let me tell you, the supplies for that craft are not cheap. Maybe I should get a job as a futures broker just to pay for it. If I was able to get involved with futures trading maybe I'd have the extra money to feed my habit. But I guess for now I'll just have to try to pay for my tole painting supplies from the profits that I make from selling my other crafts.

struggling with my weight

You would think that after the many posts I've done about needing to gain weight there is no way I would be coming in here to talk to you all about how to lose weight now wouldn't you? Well I promise to be brief. It has to do with my father in law and not me. For the past couple of months my father in law has been trying to lose a little bit of weight before his upcoming wedding. Well we are pleased to announce that he has met his target goal and will be all set and looking fit as a fiddle on his wedding day which is only three weeks away. I'm quite proud of him. He set a goal and then met it. How many people can boast that they have done that??

Back to work

A couple of weeks ago I got a phone call from my old boss about a job opportunity that I just couldn't pass up. So I took the job offer and went back to work. I'm only working about 12 hours a week so it's not a major change in our lives but we still do have to make a few changes. I'm still trying to stay involved with my healthy cooking classes that I started at the first of this month, but I've had to rearrange my classes to fit them in. And I have had to change a few things on the weekends as that is when I mainly work. But all in all it's been working out pretty well so I guess I have no real big complaints.

Busy crafter

Well the Christmas craft fair season is just about here and I'm really sad to report that I'm no where near ready for it. Last year right after the season ended I had all these plans to get a bunch of crafts made up so I would have a pile of inventory to take to the different craft fairs. Well time got away from me and that just didn't happen. I have a few things made up for the season but not nearly as much as I wanted to have. So for the next month I plan on putting on a major push to try to get as many crafts made as possible. Hopefully I get quite a few things made and I do end up having a big selection of crafts to sell. I'll let you know.

Holidays are coming

I can't believe it's almost the end of September. Well you all know what that means. That's right it's almost Thanksgiving time again. Just thinking about all the turkey and the holiday appetizers is making my mouth water. I personally don't make a huge Thanksgiving dinner, but my father in law does. He usually goes all out with the food and normally has tons of leftovers for us to take home. OK. I just made myself hungry. I guess I'll have to go find something to eat.

Getting my car serviced

It's hard to believe that the summer season has come and gone and winter is right around the corner. So it's that time of year again for me to take my car to the garage to get is serviced for the long winter months that lay ahead. Although I don't need any tire chains just yet, there are other things that I will have to get done. I'm getting them to completely check out the car from front to back. Hopefully this little venture won't cost me a fortune. But with it being that time of year, this has to happen.

Losing weight for a wedding

My husband has been looking at some different weight loss products to try to lose a couple of pounds and a few inches. Next month his father is getting married and he has asked my husband to be his best man. So my husband is now starting to worry about looking good for the big day. He honestly isn't that much overweight and if I were him I would really be concerned about losing any weight in a hurry. But I'm not him and he is worried, so I just sit back and keep my mouth shut. Hopefully when the wedding is over, he will calm down a little bit on this.

Sorting out the craft supplies

I have spent all morning sorting out all my craft supplies. Yesterday I got a flyer in the mail describing a massive sale that one of the craft stores are having. When I mentioned to my husband about attending this event, his comment to me was that I had enough stuff already. So today I decided to go through all my stuff to see if he was right. And you know what? He was! I was amazed at all the stuff that I have. So before he will let me purchase anything else, I need to get to work and use up some of this stuff. Once I do this, maybe then I can go on that shopping trip to the craft store.

Weight Loss

As my husband's father's wedding fast approaches, he is starting to think about weight loss. He has put on a few pounds over the summer and would really like to shed them before the big day. I personally don't think that he needs to lose any weight, but he seems to think that he does so I guess that's all that matters. He has been checking out different Anoretix sites and different gym locations. I know this is something that weighs heavily on his mind, so although I don't agree that he needs to lose the weight I will support him in whatever he decides to do.

Meat scare

Here in Canada we have been going through a terrible ordeal. One of the biggest meat suppliers in our area have need to recall all their meat products due to tainted me and people getting sick and some actually dying. Most of their food has been recalled and taken off the shelves, but it's still a pretty scary situation. I've been thinking about joining the bacon of the month club just so I can be assured of having good safe bacon to eat. Now that all the food has been recalled all our meat in the stores are safe, but I know it will take me years to come before I will ever purchase any product from this company.

Summer season is ending

This coming weekend is our long weekend here in Canada. It is the labour day weekend and usually marks the end of the summer season as we know it. The kids go back to school the day after labour day. So all the summer activities are slowly coming to and end. There won't be any more swimming, Cobra golf, or camping. But with the close of the summer season comes fall and that's my favorite season of all. So although I am a little sad to see summer end, I am quite happy to see the fall season slowly rolling in.

More storage

Today my father in law popped by with two large cabinets for us. I know we are going to use one of them for the food in the kitchen but we hadn't decided what we were going to do with the other one. But, I have an idea. If my husband will agree to it, I would like to take it and use it for my craft room. It has six shelves so it will hold a lot of my craft supplies and then maybe I can have all my supplies in one place and won't need to go searching all through the house when I want to start a project. When my husband gets home from work today I'm going to suggest it and see what he thinks.

I think we made a mistake

I'm thinking that last Christmas my husband and I made a mistake. We bought the kids a playstation 3 and now I'm thinking that we probably should have gotten a playstation 2 instead. The games are a whole lot cheaper for a playstation 2 and you can find used ones at a really great price. So far we haven't found any used ones what so ever and the new ones cost a fortune. But we bought this unit so I guess we will have to wait until the games go down in price before we can start buying a lot of them.

Shopping trip this weekend

Well my husband and I have decided that this coming weekend will be the time when we will finish up the kids school shopping. We still need to pick up a few clothes and most of their supplies as well. While I'm out doing this I'm going to also pick up a few things for myself as well like some more acne cream and some hair dye. Yeah I know this trip is supposed to be about the kids, but sometimes moms need stuff too right?!

Wasted summer

The reason why I think this has been a wasted summer is because I have hardly gotten any crafting done what so ever. I always thought that when the kids got older (they are now 10 and 8) that this would give me more time to craft. Because their older, this should mean that they shouldn't require as much care. But for some reason this didn't summer didn't seem to work out that way. For some reason they required my constant attention. But...they go back to school in less than two weeks so hopefully I can get back on the ball then.

New to us furniture

Yesterday my father in law showed up on my doorstep with some furniture. He brought up a bed for my youngest son, a mattress for my daughter and a new dresser for my husband. The dresser he gave my husband is a lot nicer than mine and I was so tempted to steal it and sneak in my women's lingerie. But I think I would have had a fight with my husband if I had of done that. So I started bugging him about buying me a new dresser of my very own for all my delicates. I guess I'll have to wait and see.

Television commercials

What is it with all the Phentermine commercials on TV these days? Do you find that there are more of them than in recent years, or is it because I'm getting older so I am starting to notice these things just a little bit more? If it sounds like I'm complaining, I'm really not I'm just wondering if anyone else has noticed an increase in these types of commercials or if it's just me.

Another upgrade

So today my husband has decided to purchase a micro sd card as an accessory for his computer. I find it quite amusing actually. Since I took my computer into the store last month and got a totally memory upgrade, all he has talked about is doing the same for his. Buying this memory card is just the first step in making his computer run the way he wants it too. I just shudder at the thoughts of what other accessories that he will "just have to have".

Craft fair this weekend

Although I won't be attending the craft fair, my jewelry will be. Yay! A very good friend of mine has booked a booth at a craft fair out of town this weekend and has generously offered to take all my jewelry with her to see if she can sell some of it for me. So I took down my entire supply to her the other night and today the fair opens. I really hope that she has a lot of luck selling my stuff and hers. I will let you all know the first of the week how she made out in all her (our) sales.

Sold some items

Yesterday my father in law had a giant yard sale. So I decided that I would take down some of my jewelry to try to sell. I am happy to report that I sold seven pieces. Yeah I know it doesn't sound like much, but it's still seven items that I hadn't sold before. I did learn that trying to sell my crafts at a yard sale isn't really the right place to do it. But at least I made a little cash and found out that people really do like me work. So all in all I would have to say that it was a pretty good day.

Our neighbor just redid his dining room and bought a pop up tv to go in it. Well I want one. This TV is so neat and compact it would be great for our small home. We live in a mobile home and don't have a whole lot of room for big furniture so this would be something that would fit into our compact house quite nicely. So maybe if I sweet talk my husband I'll get a pop up TV as well.

Doing reviews

Many of you may not know this, but part of the way that I earn a little income to help out with family expenses is from doing a little bit of paid blogging. I review websites and products and even have done some diet pill reviews. This extra money sure has helped out in our home for the past year. Due to babysitter issues I had to quit my full time job and become a stay at home mom with my two younger kids a little over a year ago. I can honestly say that I don't know we would have done so well with our finances had I not found paid blogging. I get to stay home with the kids and earn a little extra money as well. So for the time being I'm one happy momma.

Well my husband's sister, her husband and son safely arrived off the airplane at dinner time today. It's an awful shame because it was a long flight who two stop overs so their very very tired. Because they were so tired we put off visiting them until later on tonight. My kids can't wait to see their aunt and uncle again and can't wait to meet their cousin. They haven't seen the aunt and uncle since last September and have never met the cousin who is 10. So later on we will go visiting so they will get to see the kids and the kids will get to see them.

Today is mine and my husband's seventh wedding anniversary. Honestly I don't know where all the time goes. It just seems like yesterday that we were walking down the isle and getting ready to say the big "I do". But it wasn't yesterday, it was seven years ago. A lot has happened in the last seven years. My oldest son moved out, we have done a lot of renovations like installing some Kohler faucets and the kids have grown in leaps and bounds. Honestly, I can't wait to see what the next seven years brings us.

Not much stitching done these days

I have found that over the years when the summer months hit I kind of get a little slack as far as my crafting is concerned. And this summer has been no different. It's actually been a little worse than other summers. I was a little concerned about this until I spoke to other crafters and found out that everyone goes through these slumps. So I'm not going to worry about it any more.

Now my plans are to craft in the winter, spring and fall and then in the summer try to sell my finished products. I'm going to try this during the next year and see how I make out. If I am able to sell crafts during the summer, maybe I won't feel so guilty about not making any.

Huge yard sale

Next week my father in law will be having a huge yard sale. And when I say huge, I mean huge. He has bought a two bedroom mini home. So he needs to get rid of a lot of stuff as currently he lives in a four bedroom home. So I am going to take down some of my crafts and see if I can't sell some of it. I finally have enough inventory on hand to make attending a sale like this worth it. Hopefully I'll find a lot of people who are interested in my stuff and be able to finally make a little extra cash from my home crafting business. I'll let you all know how I make out.

I want a hot tub!

This past weekend when we took the kids camping, we had the opportunity to try out a new campsite. And... I'm so happy that we did! This particular campsite had a hot tub available for any camper to use. As I have never been in a hot tub in my entire life, I really wanted to check this new experience out. I must say I was quite happy with my first hot tub experience. Within the first 20 minutes of being in the hot tub I had made up my mind that whenever I purchase my new home with more room in it, I will be having my own.

Going away for the weekend

As soon as my husband gets home from work tonight we will be headed out the door to go to the campsite. This will be our first two day weekend of camping this summer and the kids can't wait. They have been bugging me all day about what time their father is expected home. The great news is is that it's supposed to be warm and sunny all weekend so it's a perfect time to get away. And with my husband off work the entire weekend the entire family will be able to enjoy a nice relaxing weekend.

Cleaning out my craft closet

Earlier today I was cleaning out my craft closet and you wouldn't guess what I came across. I found some of my old textbooks from when I went to community college 14 years ago. I was amazed when I reached into a cardboard box and came across these. I don't think these textbooks are much good any more, but I'm going to see if our library wants them. I don't know what I'll do with them if they don't. Obviously if these books have been in there for 14 years without me ever looking at them, I don't need them. I just hope the library does.

My youngest son is just too cute! Everything his sister does or wants he does to. As long as it's not too girly. She was looking in a clothing catalogue last night and was picking out the type of clothing that she would like to have when she goes back to school. I was actually surprised to see her pick out so much tactical gear. And because tactical gear isn't girly, my son wants this type as well. He just worships her. So if she wants anything, he must have it too. It's almost like I'm raising twins.

Crafting has slowed down

Now that summer is in full swing, I don't do as much crafting as I do during the other seasons. With two kids home on summer vacation and the weather so nice, I spend a lot of time outdoors with the kids and less time making crafts. Although this hurts my income a bit, I find it's well worth it as this is the time when I get to enjoy my kids. It won't be too much longer before they will decide that they don't want mom around quite as much anymore and then that will be my time to craft. Until then, me and the kids are having a lot of fun.

There is nothing worse than buying a used car and then having some parts break almost as soon as you have the car in your possession. This happened to a friend of mine. Today I took both kids to get their hair cuts. My daughter donated some of hers for kids for cancer. I was so proud of her. My youngest son wanted to donate his hair, but he didn't have enough to donate. But it was just sweet of him to want to do it. After the hair cuts we went to the grocery store and spent a bundle. But a family got to eat right?? Now we are going outside to play. With squirt guns. It's over 30 here, so as a little treat the kids get to spray one another.

Now I realize that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but when they comment with this phrase as anonymous, obviously the comment isn't going to get posted. I agree 100% that not everyone is going to agree with everything I say here. But it's my blog and I'll whine if I want to. lol So if you were the anonymous poster and are wondering why your comment isn't here, please do show yourself so I'll know who I'm annoying with all my whining.

Last night after the kids had gone to bed, I thought they were both sound asleep. So when I went to bed I checked on them both like I normally do and I was quite surprised to see my youngest son still up. From the time I sent them to bed, he had been watching TV. The reason why I didn't realize this sooner was because he had the sound turned completely off and the closed captioning on. When the manufactures made this option, I'm pretty sure that this use for it was not what they intended. Kids are pretty smart these days and I honestly had to give him an A for effort. Needless to say, he's one cranky child.

Steps to starting a home business

Starting a home crafting business isn't as easy as one would think. When I first started mine, all I thought I needed to do was to create some products to sell then just advertise like crazy to get traffic to my site. Well after months of trying to sell homemade crafts, I have come to the conclusion that this is not the way to go. I have discovered that what I should have done was do a lot of market research before I started this venture. Had I done this, I could have had all the essential information I needed to possibly generate sales faster. But since I didn't do this, I'll just keep advertising like crazy and hopefully the sales will soon start trickling in.

I've had this song running through my head all morning. Right now it's pouring out and has been all morning with no relief in site. Now normally this amount of rain wouldn't bother me, but since today is the kids first day of art camp and they were suppose to be creating art outside this kind of ruins that. The will still get to go, they will just have to go inside. But there still excited about going to the art camp. I guess the weather bothers me more than it does them. That's a good thing because it's them attending it, not me.

I'm still busy making more so that this summer I will have a lot of inventory made up to hand over to a friend of mine when she starts attending all the summer craft fairs that she goes to. Bag of magazines

With the bag of magazines that I had delivered to my house from a friend today, I think I'm going to be one busy little crafting lady this summer. When my friend told me that she had a bag of magazines for me, I never in my wildest dreams thought that she would give me so much and such a variety as well. There are knitting ones, crocheting ones and plastic canvas ones. So with all these patterns to choose from, I'll have a lot to do for a very long time. And because these magazines were free, she saved me a pile of money from having to buy any.

So thank you Tammy for the magazines and thank you Sharla for delivering them.

First sale

Now that I made my first sale of my homemade jewelry (two actually) from the Internet, I am going to have to set up some savings accounts. What I have planned to do is for every sale I will take half the money and put it into my savings account and the other half will go towards the purchase of more supplies. This way I can get a little savings going and have the supplies I need to make more jewelry. The more I make, the more I can sell and the higher my savings account will go. I know this will be a slow process, but I figure every little bit helps.

Staying in the violin program

After a year of playing the violin, my daughter has decided that she loves this program. When I asked her if she would be continuing to play next year, her immediate answer was yes. This is wonderful as she is really good and with practice she is only going to get better. Even her music teacher stated that if Kara dropped out it would be an awful shame as she does have a real gift. One of the things that keeps her going in this program is the fact that when she goes into grade 12 and continues on with this program, she has the opportunity to participate in one of many Orlando vacations. I know this is a long way off, but this is one of the things that she is keeping in mind.

Fun weekend ahead

Wow it's going to be a fun weekend, but a busy one. Tonight when my husband gets home from work we will be headed out for our first camping trip. Yay! So I have to get groceries today and then pack up every thing by the time he gets home. We will then stay at the trailer park for two nights. Then first thing Sunday we will head back home. Then on Sunday I will take my youngest son to a birthday party and my husband and daughter will take my father-in-law his father's day gift. After the party, Daniel and I will meet them at my father-in-law's for a barbecue. So although we will be busy, it will be a fun weekend for all. Finally the weather is co-operating with us.

He's back to work

I really have to laugh at my husband. When he was home last week he did absolutely nothing. No really! He spent most of his vacation sleeping on the couch. I really think that he didn't know what to do with himself since he wasn't working and was bored. This week he went back to work and every night he has been outside working in the yard after work. When he had the time he didn't do it and now that he's tired from working all day, he thinks he needs to get it done. His next plan of action is to rent a couple of steam cleaners to clean all the carpets and the upholstery. If he has this much energy from working, then I say that he probably shouldn't take another vacation for a very long time to come.

I'll need a vacation

Next Friday is my kids last day of school and if they fight this summer the way they have been lately, I'm pretty sure I'm going to need to escape to an exotic location such as the Outer Banks rentals. The fighting around my house has been unreal lately. But by talking to some of my friends who have kids around the same age as mine, this fighting is pretty normal. If I had to do over again, I would not have had the two younger ones so close together. So either the fighting has to slow down, or I'm going to end up running away.

Seriously guys I'm so happy right now I think I'm going to burst. I just sold two pieces of jewelry off my site over at Simply Crafting. One was to a friend of mine. Thanks Tammy!! And the other one was to a real life customer. I am so happy that people are starting to like my work. Now with two sales behind me, my motivation has returned. Yay!! So I will be making more jewelry pieces and uploading them on to this site. Why not drop by and see what I've been up to lately.

The high cost of everything

Lately we have all been moaning about the high price of gas, but I think we have all forgotten about the high prices of everything else. I did until today when I was talking to my insurance company and asked for a life insurance quote for this upcoming year. I couldn't believe the difference in the price they quoted me as compared to last year. But in my opinion, life insurance is a must have, so I will probably end up paying the quoted price. I just wish it wasn't so high of a price to pay for security.

Father's day

As you all know father's day is this coming Sunday. Now we did have plans to go camping on the weekend, but our young son kind of messed up those plans a bit. He has been invited to a birthday party on Sunday at the movie theatre. So we have changed our plans to accommodate him. My husband and I will drop him off with his friends at the movie theater and then we will also go to see the same movie. I can't think of any better father's day present than sitting down in the comfy leather home theater seating, eating popcorn and watching a show. So even though my son did interrupt our plans, I think it will all work out very well in the end.

Crafting update

Well my husband returned back to work on Monday and I'm amazed at how much crafting I have been able to get done since I am once again home alone. Just in the last three days I have been able to get some work done on my plastic canvas set, have done a little bit of knitting and have started re-arranging my jewelry supplies. Later tonight I am going to start working on a cross stitch pattern. So yes, I completely blame my husband for my lack of crafting last week. Now that he is back to work I am getting so much more accomplished then when he was home.

Anniversary coming up

Next month is my husband and my wedding anniversary. We will be married seven years in July and this year I would like to buy him something special. I have been thinking about buying him a Blancpain watch. Right now he doesn't have a watch to wear out for special occasions. So I think he would be really happy with this type of gift. But July is coming soon so I really need to make up my mind and make the purchase very soon. I've never purchased him a watch before so I think he will be really surprised with this purchase.
